Ajit Kumar Sah strives to preserve MITHILA’s Ancient Culture & Tradition

Along with the national honor Rastriya Pativa Puruskar by the Government of Nepal in 2016 AD, he is a recipient of more than 20 different national and international awards. Ajit is considered to be a Master Painter of Mithila Painting.

For over 3 decades, he has been the face of Mithila painting; working tirelessly to bring this beautiful Mithila Art from the capital of the ancient Mithila, Janakpurdham to the world arena.

Building bridges with the near East and the West, Ajit spends much time in the USA, visiting various States and exhibiting his paintings. He has also visited many other countries like Japan, Mexico, Singapore, India and Srilanka to parade his paintings in the National Fine Art Exhibitions.

In recognition of the inter-linkage between Art and the Environment, Ajit addresses Cultural Tourism and the Impact of Art throughout his paintings. He depicts the local culture, customs and traditions thru his paintings.

He is a professional trainer of Mithila painting and provides training specially to the local women and the school children to preserve the local culture and support them for their empowerment and sustainable development.

He has been working with the Fair-Trade Group, Nepal to design art and handicrafts for 30 years. Mr. Sah has worked for Japan Kampo Museum in 2003. He has also worked with The World Lumbini Peace Forum.

Recently, Mr. Sah has been honored with the Best Show Award, 2019 by Vision Art Media at the headquarter of United Nations (UN), USA. He has also been glorified with the prominent ‘Mithila Ratna-2019‘ award by Maithili Association Nepal at Biratnagar, Nepal.
